Akihabara maids harvested rice grown in the city



Ladies dressed in maid reaped rice on the roof of a building in Akihabara, Tokyo in October 24th.
The NPO project started in 2009 expects 2 kilograms(4.4 pounds) of rice this year used for bento(packed meal) soled at around Akihabara Station.

A new maid cafe inside Yodobashi-Akiba

Yodobashi-Akiba, in Akihabara, Tokyo


A maid cafe named "Candy Fruits" will open inside the second floor of Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba(Yodobashi-Akiba) in Akihabara, Tokyo in September 1st.
The cafe has 42 seats in approximately 50 square metre space.

Blend Coffee - 580 yen
Cheesecake - 500 yen
Mango Yogurt Parfait - 900 yen
Omurice - 1,200 yen
Taking Photo - 600-800 yen

Yodobashi-Akiba is the largest electronics retail store in Akihabara, Tokyo. Thea building with nine stories above ground and six below is one of the symbolic landscape in Akihabara.

Akihabara maids all together sprinkled water on the street

Maids lined up


About 50 waitresses working at maid cafes in Akihabara, Tokyo and people in costumes all together sprinkled water on the street in the afternoon of August 4th.
The temperature at the ground surface dropped by 7C(44.6F) 15 minutes after the event which was 36.7C(98.1F) before the event.
