TV commercial featuring harsh job hunting rejected



Tokyo Gas rejected its TV commercial after receiving complaints saying that it is "too realistic".
In the commercial, there is a college girl in her endless job hunting.
She takes many interviews but ends up receiving rejection letter every time.
After taking more interviews, she finally reaches the final interview exam which she thought she did very well.
However, it turned out to be another fail.
She has supper with her mother and heads to another job hunting next morning.

Number of Japanese studying abroad students keeps decreasing



In 2010, 58,060 Japanese studied abroad recent research of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology reveled. The number has been decreased by 3.1 percent from the previous year shrinking six continuous years. It was 82,945 in 2004.

U.S. - 21,290(-14.3%)
China - 16,808(+9.1%)
U.K. - 3,851(-0.5%)
Australia - 2,413(-10.7%)


The number of foreign students in Japan on the other hands was 137,756 at the point of May 2012 decreased by 0.2 percent from the previous year.

Waseda University's plan for 150th anniversary educates global leaders

Waseda University in Tokyo


Waseda University announced "Waseda Vision 150", the medium- and long-term plans till 2032 when it will celebrate 150th anniversary.


Waseda Vision 150

・Decreases the number of undergraduate students by 20% to 35,000
・Introduces quarter system
・Teaches 50% of the classes in foreign languages
・Let all students study abroad or volunteer in a foreign country
・Doubles the number of foreign students to 10,000, 20% of the whole
・Triples the number of foreign instructors to 400
・Increases the number of full-time instructors by 20% to 2,000
・75% of the classes will focus on debates and exercises

A Keio University student dead after drinking alcohol

Keio University, Tokyo


A student of Keio University had been dead in June this year after drinking too much alcohol at a club gathering.
The university had already disolved the club. The cause of the student's death is seen as acute alcohol poisoning.
