SoftBank Wi-Fi is now available at LAWSON convenience stores

SOFTBANK MOBILE in August 24th announced that its wireless LAN service "SoftBank Wi-Fi Spot" will be available at every LAWSON convenience store.
The access points are already installed at 8,343 LAWSON stores(August22nd) among approximately 10,000.

Available SSID
1) 0001softbank - for SoftBank 3G network users with no encryption
2) 0002softbank - for SoftBank 3G network users with WPA2 encryption
3) SWS1day - for non SoftBank users, SoftBank Wi-Fi Spot (EX) 490 yen/day

SoftBank Mobile is one of the three largest mobile phone carriers in Japan(1:NTT DOCOMO/2:au by KDDI/3:SoftBank). It holds the first place for a long time in the number of new contracts, though it is the third place in the total number of contracts.

Pervasion of Smartphone is 18% in Japan

The recent research by Nikkei BP Consulting, Inc revealed that pervasion of smartphones reached 18.0% in Japan.
Among the 4,400 respondents, 1,152 or 26.2% said that they have at least one smartphone. Because the respondents were sampled equally from gender and generation, revision was added to the result considering demographics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and pervasion of mobile phones. As a result, estimated pervasion of smartphones was 18.0% jumped up from last year's 9.5%.
Customer satisfaction to mobile phone carriers is ranked 1:KDDI(au) 2:NTT DOCOMO 3:SoftBank, while satisfaction to smartphone devices and services were ranked 1:SoftBank 2:KDDI(au) 3:NTT DOCOMO. SoftBank(since 2008) and KDDI(since 2011) carries iPhone.
